Concept Statement

Stillman Hall’s current third spaces lack suitable seating, digital devices, and additional environmental conditions that meet the ever-changing needs of the individuals that occupy the building. In efforts to establish more functionality throughout, implementing versatile spaces that can adapt to the unique needs of any and all individuals is crucial. Whether students need to unwind, socialize, or find some common ground, the purpose in the re-design is to create areas of the building that give occupants the power to choose their desired space.

While the re-design of the building should incorporate a variety of settings to meet the mental and physical needs of its unique occupants, practical furniture layouts that push each room or hallway to its full potential are essential to maximizing space and enforcing physical distancing practices.

Establishing a warm, welcoming set of colors, materials, textures, and natural elements would not only ignite thought and encourage downtime but allow the opportunity to exercise sustainable living and a connection to nature.
